TIRANA, April 28 – The opening of negotiations with the EU will help Albania and there is a new spirit in the relationship between Albania and the Union, said Prime Minister Edi Rama who added that Brussels postponed the membership process without convincing arguments for Albania.
Rama made those comments on Friday in his speech as part of the panel on foreign policy of Delhi Forum which is being held in Athens.
“EU leaders have seen the Western Balkans like a movie on Netflix. They left us alone on a long road, postponed the process of accession negotiations without convincing arguments. There is a new spirit in our relationship with the EU. Opening negotiations will help Albania. We are forced to look at the EU as the only window for improvement,” said Rama.
Regarding Kosovo, he said that it was madness on the part of EU leaders not to liberalize visas. “They held it hostage for years,” said Rama.
As far as Serbia is concerned, he repeated that he is not in favor of putting pressure on Serbia to increase sanctions against Russia. “I am not in favor of pressure to increase sanctions, Serbs depend on Russian gas,” he said.
Rama also spoke about the relations with the President of Turkey, Erdogan, whom he praised for his work on the transformation of Turkey. “I am a close friend of Erdogan, he has done an excellent job for the transformation of Turkey,” said Rama. /Argumentum.al
