TIRANA, November 5 – Prime Minister Edi Rama once again reiterated his stance on arable land during a meeting with farmers in Lushnja, central Albania, on Saturday.
According to Rama, the land should not be left barren, but should be worked or leased. The head of the government said that there will be a legal intervention through a super tax that will stop the owners of land from holding it hostage without working it.
“Albanians should not flee to Greece or Italy. It’s useless, it’s useless. There is nothing an Albanian does in Italy and Greece, if he is in the agricultural sector. Here’s what you’re doing,” he said, adding that the holding of the land as a hostage is a problem.
“We will not allow this. We are preparing a legal intervention according to which it is either worked or leased, but not held hostage. You can’t say it is my land. Either work or lease it. We will do this by law, or super tax, or other forms like other countries. You cannot keep the land you have for nothing,” said Rama. /Argumentum.al
