TIRANA, September 1 – The President Bajram Begaj, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Foreign Minister Olta Xhacka will travel to the US in the middle of September, it is reported by local media on Friday.
They will go to New York to participate in the annual work of the General Assembly as well as other forums of the United Nations Organization.
For the sake of the Presidency of the Security Council, which a small country like Albania takes for the second time, on September 14 it is planned that Minister Olta Xhacka will lead the meeting with a focus on establishing a network for humanitarian aid.
A few days later, on September 20, the meeting of world leaders in the Security Council will be led by Edi Rama as the prime minister of the country that takes over the presidency of the SC. This is considered one of the most important meetings with a focus on Ukraine and it will be attended by Volodymyr Zelenski.
President Begaj will speak on behalf of Albania at the General Assembly on September 21, the first time he personally takes the floor as head of state.
Albania’s diplomatic tradition has been such that the head of state and the prime minister went to the UN separately, namely one year the head of state and the next the government head. /argumentum.al
