TIRANA, May 21 – The President, Bajram Begaj, visited the former Spaç prison on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Spaç Revolt. In his speech, Begaj focused on respect for all those who sacrificed for freedom.
“Pal Zefi, Skënder Daja, Dervish Bejko, Hajri Pashai, Dashnor Kazazi, Jorgji Pepa, and many, many others that I am not mentioning, are just some of those names who made their sacrifice to show that even after death, hope does not die!” said President Begaj.
He emphasized that “they are part of a history that has not yet come to light and that has a heavy impact on the future of our country. The heroes of Spaçi and others like them serve as a reminder to all of us that the fight for freedom is a permanent fight that requires our unwavering commitment and vigilance.”
According to him, it is more important to build the future, apologizing for the mistakes of the past, and completely detaching from the shadow of the darkest period of the Albanian nation.
President Begaj expressed his deep respect and gratitude for all the martyrs of that revolt. “On this historic day, the survivors of the Spaci Revolt are the best example that, despite all the suffering they have experienced, they convey tolerance, wisdom, hope and kindness. Our society owes you a great debt for this, and for all your struggles,” the President concluded. /argumentum.al
