TIRANA, May 27 – President Bajram Begaj has been received at the Montecitorio Palace by the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, as part of his two-day official visit to Italy, announced sources of the presidential office.
The cooperation between the two countries, including parliamentary cooperation, but also cooperation in the function of peace and security of the Western Balkans region was among the highlights of the talks.
After evaluating the traditionally friendly relations and strategic partnership, President Begaj expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the Italian Parliament for all stages of the European integration process of Albania, and expressed the belief that this assistance will continue during the process of accession negotiations. A special contribution, President Begaj, also considered the important role of Italy within the Berlin Process with a direct impact on the sustainable economic and social development of the Western Balkan region.
Special attention was paid to regional cooperation and President Begaj highlighted Albania’s stabilizing role, as well as appreciated Italy’s role for the peace, stability and development of this region.
The two interlocutors also focused on the challenges that the two countries are facing since the Russian military aggression in Ukraine, as well as Albania’s contribution to the United Nations Security Council. /argumentum.al
