TIRANA, November 22 – The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, participated on Wednesday in the Arbëresh Assembly held in Tirana, as part of the Diaspora Summit, which is being held in Tirana.
During his speech, the Head of State emphasized the need to open a new chapter of cooperation between Albania and the people of Italy.
“Our action must be immediate and a historical responsibility, because the consequences will affect future generations as well,” declared the president, who emphasized the urgent need to commit to the preservation and cultivation of the language that for Albanians is an identity issue.
He emphasized the importance of a comprehensive platform for concrete projects in the service of strengthening national identity, preserving and passing on our cultural heritage between generations.
He also praised the creation of the Center for Studies and Publications for Arbëresh and appealed for mechanisms that create conditions for the expansion of Albanian studies.
“Of course, in the framework of cooperation, economic cooperation should not be neglected, which can be expanded in areas such as: tourism, culture, agriculture, food industry or in other areas of mutual interest”, he said.
As part of the new cooperation, the President also proposed the opening of a museum for the Arbëreshe in Albania. /argumentum.al
