TIRANA, September 29 – President Bajram Begaj expressed his condolences for the passing away of Father Arthur Liolin. “I learned with regret the news on the death of Father Arthur Liolin, Chancellor of the Albanian Orthodox Archdiocese in Boston,” said Begaj in his message of condolences released on social networks on Friday.
“Father Liolin, this prominent figure of the Orthodox Church and the Albanian-American community, will always be remembered as a worthy successor of Fan Noli, the founder of this church,” he said.
“In 1991, Father Liolin realized his dream, celebrating masses in 22 cities of Albania,” said Begaj.
“He was not just a spiritual guide, but an unwavering supporter of Albania and the Albanians, support which he also expressed through economic, cultural, historical and philosophical publications on the Albanian issue. May his soul rest in peace!” said the condolence message of President Begaj.
Arthur Liolin was born in 1943, in New York to Albanian parents from Boboshtica in Korça district, southeastern Albania. He was the chancellor of the Albanian Orthodox Archdiocese based in Boston and was considered a worthy successor of Fan Noli, the founder of this church. /argumentum.al
