TIRANA, June 28 – Within the framework of the participation in the High Level Meeting of the Cooperation Process of the countries of Southeast Europe, President Bajram Begaj held separate meetings with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, and the Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan.
In the meeting with the President of Bulgaria Radev, President Begaj appreciated the very good relations between Albania and Bulgaria, as well as underlined the need for better cooperation and coordination in order to improve the regional interconnection infrastructure, placing special emphasis on Corridor 8.
Regarding the latter, President Begaj appreciated the role of Bulgaria as an EU member country in supporting the project.
The two interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the latest developments in the Western Balkan region, on the need to support the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as on the impact and consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine.
President Begaj also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, at the latter’s request. President Begaj appreciated the very good relations of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as expressed his gratitude for the great support that Turkey has given to Albania and the Albanians especially in overcoming the consequences of the devastating earthquake in November 2019, as well as during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic.
At a time when, in November of this year, Turkey is expected to take over the command of KFOR in Kosovo, the two interlocutors also focused on the latest developments in the Western Balkans region. /argumentum.al
