TIRANA, May 11 – “I appreciated the good political and friendly relations reconfirmed through this visit of friend Duda to Tirana. Despite the diplomatic relations established 86 years ago, the relations between our two peoples date back to the Middle Ages,” said President Bajram Begaj after meeting with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda in Tirana in a joint press conference on Thursday.
Begaj said that they had agreed to contribute to the further promotion of cooperation in many areas where more can be done.
According to Begaj, the discussion focused on economic and commercial cooperation, which, although there are positive developments and a complete legal framework, is far from the possibilities of the two countries. “I assured President Duda that Albania is a friendly and safe environment for Polish investors. We appreciated the cooperation in tourism; Albania and Poland have good cooperation in the field of defense.”
For his part, the President of Poland, Duda, stated that he hoped that Albania would soon be a member of the EU. “This is the first state visit of a Polish president in 20 years and he thanked President Begaj for the invitation. This visit is a signal to revive Albanian-Polish relations,” he said.
Regarding the EU integration process of Albania, the Polish President said that it is very clear that the reforms are being implemented, where Albania is developing dynamically, especially from the economic and infrastructural side.
“I have no doubt that Albania deserves to be part of the EU as soon as possible. This is in our interest and that of the entire EU. We will support this EU membership with all our strength,” said the Polish President. /argumentum.al
