President Ilir Meta has asked a dozen of questions about the murder of Pjerin Xhuvani two days ago in Elbasan suspected to be linked with political motives on the eve of the April 25 election in Albania.
Meta demanded on Friday actions from some Albanian institutions such as the Police, SPAK, Elbasan Prosecutor’s Office and the General Prosecutor’s Office to act and punish anyone who had violated the law in relation to that deadly incident.
According to him, the assassination in Elbasan is the most serious event during this election process. He warned that any procrastination, inaction, or damage to the evidence for this event inspire more criminal elements in the violation of the electoral process.
“Still, the Prosecution body and the structures of the State Police have not provided a full official and exhaustive version on the event,” said Meta.
In his address to the General Prosecutor, Head of the SPAK Prosecution, General Director of the State Police, the President asks them to act immediately to clarify the event and the responsibility of each individual involved in it.
“This is the most serious event that has happened in this election process. Any procrastination, inaction, or damage to the evidence for this event inspire more criminal elements in the violation of the election process,” said President Meta.
He warned that free and fair voting and the legitimacy of the April 25 elections should not be further jeopardized by these phenomena. “Anyone who has violated the law must be punished now! You have full responsibility before the people and the law to carry it out now,” concluded President Meta. /argumentum.al
