President Ilir Meta reacted on Wednesday regarding the criminal event that took place in “Don Bosko” neighborhood in Tirana a day before.
Meta strongly condemned the events that took place at the end of the year and the beginning of the new year in Albania a Balkan country hit hard by rising criminality, especially during the last year.
“I strongly condemn the criminal events of the end of the year and the first days of the new year, which took place in several cities of the country, and especially the fatal event in “Don Bosko” in Tirana, yesterday, which ended with the murder of a citizen and the injury of several others,” he said.
According to him, such a criminal act, in one of the most populated areas of the capital, not only poses an open challenge of organized crime groups to the state and its institutions, but also a serious threat to security and the very life of the citizens of Tirana.
“This is the result of a series of other criminal acts, which have remained unsolved, and the perpetrators have not been brought to justice,” he said.
The President called on law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I call on the State Police, as well as all law enforcement institutions in the country, to strengthen the work, first to arrest the perpetrators of this serious crime, but also to strengthen cooperation between them to prevent such events in the future,” concluded Meta. / Argumentum.al
