President Considers Punishable Lack of Strategy to Curb Coronavirus Pandemic in Albania

“The COVID-19 pandemic in our country is getting out of control. In the last 24 hours, the highest number of infected citizens has been registered, compared to every other day. Another shocking figure has been recorded in terms of lost lives. ”
This alarming message was conveyed by President Ilir Meta in a FB post on Friday when the Ministry of Health reported 14 fatalities and 1052 affected cases in the last 24 hours in Albania.
The Head of State said that the pandemic is getting out of control and that there is no plan to launch mass vaccination of the population. He called on the government not to look at or treat citizens as numbers for daily statistics, leaving them at the mercy of fate, stressing that a new and effective strategy is urgently needed to check the pandemic.
“Hospital capacity to receive new daily hospitalizations is overcrowded. Meanwhile, apart from propaganda, there are no plans to launch mass vaccination of the population,” Meta said.
According to him, a new and effective strategy is urgently needed to curb the pandemic, improve conditions in hospitals, financially support those affected and their families, and raise the awareness of the population.
“Any delay is a huge cost to citizens, their health and lives, and it is not only unforgivable, but also punishable,” said President Meta. /argumentum.al
