“As in no other democratic country, since February 2019 this Parliament has no real opposition within it. Therefore, the lack of opposition in the Parliament is one more reason why the current one-party legislative in these conditions and in this period, and in these circumstances does not enjoy any legitimacy to set up, nor to carry out investigative activities,” has said President Ilir Meta.
Presidenti Meta made that comment in a long letter sent on Tuesday to Speaker Gramoz Ruci which contains the reasons why that Commission could not dismiss him.
In addition, Meta urges the Parliament to reflect and repeal the decision to approve the report and set up a Commission of Inquiry to dismiss him, to immediately terminate all parliamentary investigative procedures that this commission is conducting, as well as not to take important decisions that violate the interests of the state.
According to him, another reason for the lack of legitimacy of this Parliament is the lack of opposition, and the role of the genuine and real opposition within the activity of the Parliament is essential.
Further on he said that all that is being done by Parliament is a political farce and is the gravest crisis of the legitimacy of the people’s representation in Parliament since the boycott of it by the real opposition.
“Facts are revealing that the government and the functionaries of this majority, inside or outside the Parliament, have been fully involved in this electoral process by any means and have used every means that transcends the boundaries of law and morality,” he said.
Among the questions raised by the President are who worked with crime and was supported by it, who offered protection to criminals, who abused public power and state administration for political favoritism in elections, who and how they intimidated citizens, who alienated the will of Albanians etc.
“Therefore, the lack of opposition in the Parliament is one more reason why the current one-party Parliament, in these conditions, in this period of time, and in these circumstances, does not enjoy any legitimacy to set up, nor to carry out activities. investigative,” President Meta stressed
