TIRANA, April 6 – The whole global security architecture will change and adapt after this unprovoked and unjustified Russian aggression against Ukraine, said President Ilir Meta in an interview with Bulgarian public television TNT on Wednesday.
President Meta paid a two-day visit to Sofia at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Radev being received by the highest state and government leaders of this friendly country of Albania.
According to him, the architecture of European security will have to adapt to the current reality in face of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and that the countries of the Western Balkans are also part of this adaptation to the new situation.
“Fortunately, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro are members of NATO. Other countries are also part of a partnership with NATO which have an interest in joining the EU. They will have to harmonize. their foreign policy with that of the European Union,” he said.
Serbia is a EU aspirant country but has not aligned its stance with the EU regarding sanctions applied on Russia.
Asked on eventual border changes in WB President said it’s known how much the Balkans and the whole of Europe have suffered from these crazy border change games that have caused rivers of blood in the Balkans in which unfortunately former senior EU officials are also involved.
“The solution can never be to change the borders but only to remove the borders based on the model of the United Europe. This in the first place. Second, to apply the same European standards for minorities and their rights in all our countries.”
In a comment on Corridor VIII, Meta said the governments of Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania and also other countries that are interested, in particular Italy, as well as other countries and friends in the European Union, should get more engaged in this project. /Argumentum.al
