TIRANA, October 14 – The President of the University Employees’ Union, Sandër Kovaçi, declared in the teachers’ protest for salary increases and quality education, which was held on Friday, that the boycott of the academic year will be partial starting from 17 October.
“The 17th is in effect as the stubborn government does not want to take any measure. We do not want to spoil the party of young students and their parents, so this party will take place,” he said in the protest attended by hundreds of professors.
According to his announcement, after the presentation of the new students at 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Union representatives will be there to explain to the students why their movement is also a students’ movement.
“We will be in front of the faculties from 10:00 to 12:00 every day. In view of the government’s answers, the Union will inform about its further actions,” said the president of the University Employees’ Union.
A separate protest was organized by dozens of disabled persons in Tirana, who demanded an increase in the financial support. /Argumentum.al
