TIRANA – The Matura exam in literature has turned into a bone of contention between High school seniors and the Education Ministry with students continuing their protest against the exam they had a few days ago.
On Saturday they took to the streets of Tirana for the second day in a row in a sign of protest against the literature exam because many of the items of the test, according to them, were not part of the school program.
The students blocked the ‘Durres Street’, one of the main arteries of the Capital, asking local authorities to meet two requirements: reevaluation of the Language and Literature exam and lowering the threshold for grades 9 and 10.
There is an appeal from the angered students to citizens to join them in their protest and they hint that the protests will continue.
In the meantime, it is announced that the high school seniors have framed a 10-point draft covering all loopholes found in the Albanian Language and Literature exam. The students consider the exam as unacceptable and according to them a solution can be found if their demands are met. They tried to submit the list of the demands to the Education Ministry in an attempt which failed because they were not allowed. /argumentum.al
