TIRANA, November 24 – Prime Minister Edi Rama held a press conference on Friday, where he spoke among other issues about the Beleri case and the threats of the Greek government that it will block the integration processes in the EU.
Rama emphasized that the Beleri case is in the hands of justice and the government has nothing to do with it.
The head of the government added that the issue of the mayor of Himara should not be related to integration, he even added that in the bilateral aspect between Albania and Greece it is minor in relation to the important issues.
“It is about an individual who was arrested red-handed for buying votes, he is in a judicial process at GJKKO. It is impossible to take the oath because our law is very clear in what conditions the oath is taken and the government has no role to play here. Maybe in the past the government was used to playing that role that it was always used to play, especially when asked by foreigners. This no longer happens neither for insiders, nor for outsiders,” said Rama.
The PM raised the question of whether Greece can block Albania’s integration process. “It can happen. too. Yes, then. If this happens you will hear my comment. It would be very frivolous that Albania, which is recognized worldwide today as a country completely different from what it was, either by the general international opinion, turned from a country that is not absent from the top lists of preferable destinations, to be blocked for an issue that is not a matter of EU or integration at all. It is an issue that, even in the bilateral aspect, is minor in relation to the important issues,” said Rama. /argumentum.al
