TIRANA, May 15 – The Prime Minister, at the same time the leader of the Socialist Party (SP), Edi Rama, said on Tuesday that the victory of the SP in the local elections of May 14 is a very big victory to be celebrated.
In the first press conference after SP’s victory in the majority of municipalities in the May 14 local elections, Rama said that in such a special case as this he could not make a victory speech, but a victory rally.
“This is a very big victory to celebrate and I myself feel very small in front of the map filled with the colors of the victory of our candidates from Tropoja to Konispol. We need to be protected from the strong intoxicating wind of a victory like this,” said Rama.
The Prime Minister said that he felt it necessary to go to Shkodra as soon as possible to start from the city most blessed by God and mistreated by DP on a tour of thanksgiving for all Albanians.
“No one should forget that these were local elections with a political dimension imposed by the shadows of the past that tried to pull the country back and looked at these elections as an imaginary action towards the overthrow of the government,” said Rama.
He emphasized that they should do not what they said, but even more because Shkodra was not given a chance, but a very strong belief.
“I challenged Shkodra several times. I failed several times. This time, Shkodra has made me and us a bigger challenge than all the challenges we made together,” declared Rama, adding that Shkodra is the main word of the mandate that will start in a few months.
Shkodra has been a traditional stronghold of the Democratic Party and it has come as a surprise the loss of the right-wing political party after three decades of leading the city hall of the largest city in northern Albania. /argumentum.al
