TIRANA, December 1 – Some 695, 101 Albanian pensioners will benefit the year-end bonus of 5,000 ALL starting from Friday.
This was announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama after a government meeting in a press conference on Thursday. According to the decision, 695,101 pensioners will receive the year-end- bonus worth 5,000 lek, and the government head said that such a decision was unquestioned despite the difficulties of this year. The Prime Minister also informed on the decision for other bonuses for disability people.
Likewise, Rama said that the government will also support 64,000 families living on the dole. In total, according to him, it is a package of 4.3 billion lek, or about 40 million dollars, that is made available to these categories, which are also the most needy categories of society.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Rama commented on December 6, when the EU-Western Balkans Summit will be held, while on the other hand, the opposition will hold a protest.
Speaking of the EU-WB Summit, Rama said that never before has it happened that the whole continent comes to Albania, while he added that European leaders come as a sign of respect for the country.
As for the news announced on Wednesday that December 6 will be a holiday, Rama denied such a thing. “There is no day off, it’s fake news, work will continue normally.”
Regarding the security measures taken by the Police for the EU-Western Balkans summit, Rama said that they cannot negotiate with anyone on anything.
Opposition front has reiterated its decision to hold an anti-government protest on December 6 despite police warnings against it. DP chairman Sali Berisha has said that was a welcome protest to the foreign leaders in Tirana, and a denouncing of PM Rama as an arch corrupt premier never seen in Albania’s history. Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke about “Open Balkans”, saying that it is a product of the Berlin process. Rama clarified that there is no reason to change his opinion on “Open Balkans”, as it is an initiative in full compliance with the spirit of the EU. /Argumentum.al
