TIRANA – Another appeal has been launched by Prime Minister Edi Rama to the opposition to join forces in the fight against coronavirus epidemic as he unveiled the second financial support package on Monday.
“My appeal is to join forces, to discuss steps, to review directly online the decisions we made and the quality of their execution,” said Rama, who, however, was sad that the opposition lost the opportunity to place itself in the service of the war in a positive way rather than offer illusionary formulas for the economy.
The government head hoped that his appeal would not fall in a deaf ear at this delicate moment of the fight when “we have come out of the middle of tunnel and a thin thread divides us from moving towards the exit.”
Rama accepted that the lockdown restrictions have damaged the family and national economy and everything will recover as before but the dead will not come back to life. He promised to do the utmost to ease as much as possible the impact of the war particularly for those who have been affected most economically as families.
In a tit-for-tat reaction to Rama’s appeal the Democratic Party head, Lulzim Basha said the premier should give up his political rhetoric and focus on citizens’ priorities.
“I will not be involved in any debate calling on him (Rama) to avoid rhetoric and harsh language towards opposition and focus on citizens’ priorities, their health and economy,’ said Basha in a live talk with a local TV on Monday. /argumentum.al
