TIRANA, May 5 – The Special Court accepted the request of 9 defendants in the Elbasan incinerator file to be tried by abbreviated procedure. Thus, former minister Lefter Koka, former deputy Alqi Blako and 4 other former officials who were members of the commission that selected the winning companies of the concession, even though they declared that they were innocent, asked to benefit from the reduction of the sentence in case they are declared guilty at the request of SPAK.
With the same procedure, the 3 business owners of the incinerator companies, Stela Gugallja, Klodian Zoto and Mirel Mërtiri, will also be tried.
Meanwhile, the file was separated for the former official, Etleva Kondi, who asked to be tried by ordinary procedure.
SPAK claimed that Alqi Blako has coordinated the actions between businessmen Mirel Mërtir and Klodian Zoto and the concession selection commission and together with them has misused their duties in the procedure followed for the concession in favor of the companies that won. Through this scheme, companies related to Koka collected 329 million Lek.
The next session for the Elbasan incinerator will be held on May 19, where it is expected that SPAK will read the claim and research the punishment measures. /argumentum.al
