Residents of the neighborhoods of “5 Maji”, Lapraka and Paskuqan held a protest on Sunday in front of the Prime Minister’s Office for the demolition of their homes.
Residents do not accept the agreement with the municipality of Tirana, as they consider it unfair and warn the government that if the Prime Minister does not resolve this situation they will go on hunger strike in front of the Prime Minister.
“One of the most difficult things is when you try to establish a dialogue with a fraudster such as the mayor. I ask him to dedicate the time he dedicates to deceiving us for solutions. The inhabitants have behaved in a civilized way. An open propaganda is being made,” said a protester as quoted by the state-run news agency ATA on Sunday. “I see for days my neighbors, whose houses have collapsed and they sleep under rubbles. The agreement begins with a donation. I do not donate the house to the municipality and no one here. Between a negative government and a much more negative municipality, I think this municipality is deceiving the prime minister himself. I ask (Edi) Rama to take that agreement himself, read it for 7 minutes, and he will understand that he himself for his house in Surrel would not sign it in any way. We are defending the right.”
A few days ago, the residents of the areas of “5 Maji”, Lapraka, Paskuqan and Kodra e Priftit started the protest in front of the Assembly, and then headed to the Embassy of the United States of America and the headquarters of the Delegation of the European Union in Tirana holding placards in their hands in protection of their rights. / Argumentum.al
