TIRANA, September 14 – An anti-drug operation in the country coded ‘Tempulli’ in which RENEA, FNSH forces and hundreds of police officers and helicopters have been engaged has put more than 200 people behind bars and 88 others are declared wanted for distributing and using drugs near schools.
Giving details on the operation the Head of State Police, Muhament Rrumbullaku said it was designed to create more security at schools and prevent the trading, distribution or the use of narcotics near schools by crime groups or individuals with previous criminal records.
“In these eight months, 829 kilograms of cannabis, a part of it processed in the form of chocolate, 61.5 kilograms of heroin, 15.5 kilograms of cocaine, 5.2 kilograms of ecstasy were seized,” Rrumbullaku said.
Media reported that a police officer from Elbasan was among those arrested.
President Bajram Begaj has congratulated the State Police for this mega operation in a post on the Facebook social network saying that the commitment of the police and the excellent result of this operation guarantees more public safety near schools.
