TIRANA, April 3 – Albania may take the same step as Brussels for banning the use of the Chinese network TikTok on the devices of public administration employees.
In the name of the parliamentary majority, this proposal was made by the head of the socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, who requested that all parliamentary parties show political will to take this step.
“TikTok is a security risk in our Euro-Atlantic space. It is very important and there is a need for a bipartisan approach in the Albanian Parliament as well,” he said.
The US, the EU and UK have banned the use of TikTok by government employees, as their intelligence services have strong suspicions that China is using the app, developed by Chinese firm ByteDance, to spy on intelligence services of other countries. /Argumentum.al
