TIRANA, March 10 – The Special Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) has spoken about the investigations against Arben Ahmetaj, the former Minister of Economy, for the much talked about incinerators file, although it was late when many requests were made for his investigation long time ago.
In its public response on Friday SPAK said that the investigations have been done and that Ahmetaj’s case will be separated.
“In relation to the actions carried out by the citizen Arben Ahmetaj in the capacity of the Minister of Economic Development and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Justice, as well as in relation to some other facts and circumstances that have resulted from the preliminary investigations, the division of the criminal case has been decided registering the criminal proceeding no. 277/1, dated 19.09.2022,” said SPAK regarding Ahmetaj’s case.
Meanwhile, SPAK’s announcement also shows that this institution submitted to the Special Court for Corruption and Organized Crime in Tirana at the end of the preliminary investigations the request to send to court the criminal case against the defendants Lefter Koka, Alqi Blako, Etleva Kondi, Jonida Zeqo , Pëllumb Abeshi, Bardhul Çabiri, Serafin Papa, Mirel Mërtiri, Klodian Zoto, Stela Gugallja, the company “Albtek Energy” sh.p.k. and the company “Integrated Technology Services” sh.p.k., with their respective charges.
The judge of the preliminary session with the decision no. 21, dated 21.02.2023 has assessed as fair and based on the law the request for sending the criminal case to court and has assessed that the investigations are complete, according to the announcement.
Further SPAK said that currently, the criminal proceedings against Ahmetaj are being investigated by prosecutor Enkeleda Millonaj after the replacement of prosecutor Klodjan Braho has been decided at the latter’s request.
In conclusion, SPAK opposes any attempt of intimidation and personal attacks against special prosecutors that aims to limit them from their competence and responsibility to prosecute according to the Constitution and the law. /Argumentum.al
