TIRANA, February 7 – The Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPAK) has registered criminal proceedings against Arben Ahmetaj for the concession of the Elbasan incinerator. Officially, the anti-corruption structure told Fax News on Tuesday that it is analyzing Ahmetaj’s actions regarding the concession procedure that was granted at the time when he held the position of Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Entrepreneurship.
SPAK is also collecting evidence and data from the seized computers and e-mails, which were exchanged between the former deputy prime minister and the winners of the concessionaire. The investigators are verifying all the communications that the former deputy prime minister made with the persons under investigation who won the concession.
SPAK is also carrying out investigative actions, where the entrances and exits of Ahmetaj are being verified through the TIMS system in the period when the hotels were booked by Klodian Zoto, the owner of the Elbasan incinerator concession company. Also, the trips Ahmetaj may have made with businessmen Klodian Zoto, Mirel Mërtiri and Stela Gugallja are being verified.
The file is divided into two fractions 277 and 277/1 for the Elbasan incinerator. 12 people have been charged in the first case, and the preliminary hearing for Ahmetaj will take place on February 18, which will decide whether the case will go to trial or not. /Argumentum.al
