TIRANA, May 26 – “During two years, specifically 2020-2022, it turns out that a total of 24 criminal proceedings were investigated by the Special Prosecutor’s Office, with 25 people under investigation, against former high-level officials,” declared the Head of the Prosecutor’s Office Special Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), Altin Dumani.
Dumani presented on Friday the report of the activity of this institution during the year 2022 in the Committee for Legal Affairs, Public Administration and Human Rights in the Assembly.
Dumani said that 4 decisions were given to 4 former high-level officials at the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office by the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime during 2022.
The head of the SPAK said that in relation to the use of special investigation tools in addition to wiretapping, all tools are being applied to a significant extent for a case or different cases such as observations, simulations, controlled delivery, and for the first time even undercover agents.
Asked by Socialist Party deputy Pandeli Majko what is the value expressed in lek or euro of assets seized and confiscated by court decision last year, Dumani said that “the value can be at least over 100 million euros”. /argumentum.al
