TIRANA – Albanian Parliament looks forward to restart the cooperation with the National Assembly of Hungary, said Speaker Gramoz Ruci who reiterated the invitation to his counterpart Laszlo Kover in a message sent on the occasion of the National Holiday on Thursday.
“The Albanian people nourish a great respect and strong friendly feelings towards the Hungarian people,” said Ruci in his message glorifying this important event of the history of the Hungarian nation.
This date is particularly important in Hungarian history and culture, as its people celebrate the founding of the Hungarian state and Hungary’s first king, St. Stephen. Normally. As it is reported by Hungarian media there would be fireworks and all-day-long activities, but this year most programs have been cancelled as a result of the restrictions present due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be no regular August 20 celebration this year. However, there are plenty of possibilities for those who are eager to “taste” Hungarian medieval history.
According to Ruci, Albania is grateful to Hungary for the continuous support and great contribution to the European integration of Albania and the Western Balkans. He considers the decision on the opening of Albania’s accession talks with the Union as a merit and result of the powerful support of the Hungarian government and National Assembly.
In a comment on the C19 pandemic the Speaker noted that the impact was not serious on Hungary and “we are happy that Hungary is overcoming the situation returning to normalcy”.
