“In recent years, the relations between Albania and Serbia have been enriched with new developments thanks to our commitment to serve the strengthening of bilateral and regional cooperation and the strengthening of synergies for the Europeanization of the region,” said Speaker Lindita Nikolla to the new Ambassador of Serbia, Slobodan Vukcevic during a meeting on Tuesday.
Belgrade’s top diplomat to Tirana Vukcevic congratulated Nikolla on her election as Speaker of the Parliament of Albania expressing the will of the Parliament and the Government of Serbia to strengthen bilateral cooperation with this country, as well as cooperation for the European perspective of the region, said an announcement by the press office of parliament.
In the meantime, Nikolla said Albania supports the EU-mediated Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, considering it as very important. She also praised the role of Albania’s strategic partner the United States, and praised the efforts of the EU and US Special Envoys for Dialogue and the Western Balkans, Miroslav Lajcak and Gabriel Escobar. “We welcome the agreement reached between them, which was done in Brussels. We also welcome the meetings of the leaders of Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels and we believe in the continuation of the dialogue,” said Nikolla.
Nikolla also conveyed to Ambassador Vukcevic, Albania’s interest in the Albanians of the Presevo Valley for their prosperity and the provision of their rights in accordance with international obligations and norms and European legislation, which means greater involvement in social and economic life of Serbia, as well as for other issues such as passivation and deregistration of addresses, teaching textbooks in Albanian language, use of national symbols, etc.
Nikolla and Vukcevic exchanged views on strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the Albanian Parliament and the National Assembly of Serbia, as well as on expanding economic and trade cooperation in the field of tourism and other sectors. / Argumentum.al
