TIRANA, November 18 – The Special Court of the First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime decided on Saturday the compulsory appearance measure for the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqja.
In an announcement of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime it is stated that, “on 13.01.2020, the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime registered criminal proceedings no. 13 of 2020 which deals with the criminal offenses of “Abuse of duty” in cooperation, provided by article 248-25 of the Criminal Code, “Violation of the equality of participants in public tenders or auctions” carried out in cooperation, provided by article 258-25 of the Criminal Code, “Passive corruption of public officials high state or local elected officials” provided by article 260 of the Criminal Code, in relation to the concession awarding procedure “For integrated services for the provision of a personalized set of surgical instruments, the supply of disposable sterile medical material in surgical rooms as well as treatment of biological waste and disinfection of surgical rooms”, from the Ministry of Health”.
“In continuation of the investigations for this criminal proceeding, at the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with decision no. 119, act dated 16.11.2023, decided: The assignment to the person under investigation I.B. acting former Minister of Health, of the security measure “Compulsion to appear at the Judicial Police” and “Prohibition of leaving the country”, provided by articles 234 and 233 of the Penal Code, as a suspect for the criminal offense of ” Misuse of duty” carried out in collaboration, provided by articles 248 and 25 of the Criminal Code.
The person under investigation I. B. is ordered to appear before the judicial police of the National Bureau of Investigation, once a week, on Fridays, at 3:30 p.m. It is ordered that the person under investigation I.B. not to leave the territory of the Republic of Albania without the authorization of the court. /argumentum.al
