TIRANA, November 7 – The Deputy of the Democratic Party (DP), Agron Shehaj has announced that he is no longer part of the parliamentary group after he was expelled earlier from Gazment Bardhi.
In a press statement on Tuesday Shehaj said that he is no longer part of the DP either. He emphasized that the party must be re-founded with new intellectual figures.
“This is not an alternative. None is an alternative now, not Basha’s. I spoke with Berisha and told him the same thing I am saying. His answers did not convince me,” he said.
According to Shehaj, he had raised these concerns since the summer that a real re-establishment of the DP was needed where new figures, young intellectuals should join. He suggested that a new party could be created. “At this moment, there will be no new party… I propose that we should build a credible alternative, and do a total renovation. At the moment I decided not to be a part of DP anymore, I don’t expect it to be renewed now. New figures are needed,” said Shehaj.
The deputy of Vlora confirmed his position that he will remain independent until the end of the mandate. /argumentum.al
