TIRANA, August 4 – “The Albanian economy today is unbalanced, it produces added value and fails to distribute it to the citizens; fails to invest in the future; fails to increase the income of Albanian families; it fails to be the economy of the majority,” has said the deputy of the Democratic Party (DP) Jorida Tabaku.
In a post on social networks on Friday, Tabaku said that the World Bank report highlighted the sad fact that the poverty rate is still high in Albania. “Thirty percent of Albanians below 5.5 dollars/day is not just a number, but reflects the reality of many families facing poverty.”
According to her, the poverty rate is twice the rate of other Western Balkan countries and much higher than the average of the European Union.
“This is not just a government challenge, but an issue that we as a community must address together. At this point, there is no room for separate policies. We are all part of this process and can contribute to changing the situation,” said Tabaku, who noted that the way to restore trust is to change this system that has clearly failed. /argumentum.al
