TIRANA, February 28 – The Assembly of North Macedonia voted after midnight on Monday on the changes in the Government, namely it has elected three ministers from the ranks of the Alliance for Albanians, which has become part of the parliamentary majority.
The new Minister of Justice is Krenar Lloga, the Minister of Health, Fatmir Mexheti, of Public Administration and Information Society, Azir Aliu, and Kaja Shukova from SDSM is elected Minister of Ecology.
Changes in the Government were voted by 65 deputies in the 120-member Assembly.
The reorganization of the Government of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski was made after the decision of the parties in power, the Social Democratic League (LSDM) and the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) to expand the parliamentary majority to give seats to the Alliance for Albanians party.
After the election of new ministers, Prime Minister Kovacevski said that the reorganization of the Government is not motivated by names and surnames, by party interests, but by strengthening the position of the state internationally, protecting national interests and uniting the parties for the country’s European orientation.
“Our goal is to expand the parliamentary majority for the European integration of North Macedonia,” Kovacevski declared.
However, the majority has expanded by only one deputy, after the Alternative party left the Government due to the disagreement over the allocation of posts.
The debate on the election of new ministers started on February 13 and lasted two weeks due to long speeches by VMRO DPMNE MPs.
VMRO DPMNE estimates that the expansion of the majority was done for “saving the Government and not for the European course of the country”.
The head of this party, Hristijan Mickoski, said that he remains in the position that early elections are the only solution to the crisis in which North Macedonia is.
“They must agree now that we must hold early parliamentary elections in the spring, and save the people from this criminal government. Only VMRO will be able to pull the country out of the mud, in which this corrupt government has plunged it,” said Mickoski.
The parliamentary majority aims to change the Macedonian Constitution for the inclusion of the Bulgarian minority in its preamble, which is an obligation arising from the agreement with Sofia to resolve disputes between the two countries and unblock the European integration process of North Macedonia./ Argumentum.al
