The Council of Albanian Ambassadors ( CAA) welcomes the resumption of talks between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia on the These talks, facilitated by the EU with the US support should conclude with the mutual recognition, as the only way for the full-fledged normalisation of of the relations between these two states. This would be not only to the benefit of both countries but also a big step towards strengthening peace, stability and the Euro-Atlantic future in our region.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors does firmly believe that stability and prosperity in our region are inextricably linked to upholding sovereignty and territorial integrity of each state, observing the principles of democracy and human rights, as well as protecting and advancing the position of ethnic minorities.
The Agreement on the normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo should be reached within these principles, which are also enshrined in the Ahtisaari Package and in the Opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors deems it necessary to underline that the Euro – Atlantic prospect is the driving force to sustainable stability and prosperity in the Balkans. Accordingly, this prospect should be genuine and touchable for all the countries in the region.
In this context, since the relevant conditions have been met long ago, CAA highlights the importance of the quickest possible visa liberalisation for Kosovo by the EU.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors encourages the representatives of the Republic of Kosovo and all political forces there to commit themselves with the spirit of self-confidence and professionalism to the EU and US supported talks with the Republic of Serbia.
Likewise, the CAA encourages the EU Chief Mediator, Mr. Lajçak to be guided in this process by the underlying principles of this dialogue, with self-restraint from emotional and inadequate attitudes.
The future of the Republic of Kosovo lies under the umbrella of the EU and NATO with the Euro-Atlantic values deeply rooted in the foundations of Kosovo state.
