TIRANA, November 2 – As part of the Macedonian Culture Week, the Embassy of North Macedonia in cooperation with the Cultural Information Center in Tirana and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, held “Macedonian Culture Days” from October 27 to 29 in Korça.
“The manifestation had an educational, cultural and economic character in its content. A number of citizens from our country took part in the demonstrations, namely: professors of the Pedagogical Faculty from Manastir led by the dean Dançe Sivakova – Neshkovski, a delegation from the Tourism Promotion and Support Agency led by the director Ljupço Janevski, the vice president of the Union of Chambers Economics, Sašo Dikoski, the director of the “Manastir Institute and Museum”, Meri Stojanova, the mayor of the Municipality of Resnja, Jovan Tozia, the Blues band from Skopje and the women’s choir “Menada” from Tetova,” said the Embassy in its press release on Wednesday.
Further it added that the representatives of the Macedonian National Minority and the president of the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration, Vasil Sterjoski, who made a significant contribution to the realization of the manifestation, took part in the activities, as well as the representative of the Commission for Minorities of Albania, Marjana Kostofski. The citizens of Korça had the opportunity to attend these events: Promotion of free Macedonian language courses; exhibition of the artist, Zoran Kardula; the exhibition of the NU Zavod Manastir Museum “Dreams of the bride – cups and coffins “; musical and choral performance, as well as the screening of the documentary film “The honey land”.
As far as economic cooperation is concerned, a meeting of representatives of tourist agencies from the two countries was held, where the possibilities of mutual connection and joint performance in third markets were discussed. Proposals for the regional connection of the Korça and Ohrid regions, as well as the Prespa region, were also discussed. The idea of introducing the Korçë-Resen bus line was also proposed in the conversation.
The days of Macedonian culture in Korça ended with the concert of the “Menada” choir from Tetova, Macedonia. The concert of the “Menada” women’s choir was received with great interest by the public, which carefully followed the program conception of the various compositions in Macedonian, Albanian and English of different periods and styles at the “Andon Z. Çajupi” theater.
As part of the Days of Macedonian Culture event held in Korça, the exhibition “Dreams of the bride – cups and coffins” from Manastir – was opened. Visitors have the opportunity to get to know some of the traditional Macedonian culture, but also to witness the similarities and differences with the traditional cultures of other Balkan peoples through this exhibition.
In addition to his Excellency, Macedonian Ambassador Danço Markovski and other representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of North Macedonia in Albania, as organizers of the events, a number of guests also participated in the opening ceremony of the event, including Zlatko Origjanski, Director of the Macedonian Cultural and Information Center in Tirana, Mayor of Korça Municipality, Sotirakji Philo, Dean of the Faculty of Philology Jonela Spaho, former MP Vasil Sterjovski, Chairman of the Korça District Council, Ana Verushi, District Director- Korçë, Gjergj Koki, professor Maria Deutsche, director of the Museum of Medieval Art, Fjoralba Prifti and many others.
The exhibition will remain open until November 5 at the KORÇE FLAG HOUSE.
It should be remembered that the initiative “Albania welcomes the world” comes as a collaboration of the Albanian government with other friendly, partner countries present in Albania. Through their representations, a series of international cultural weeks have been organized, revealing the traditions, culture and social life of the participating countries in such a project. /Argumentum.al
