TIRANA, August 6 – The stay of two Turkish Navy school ships in the port of Durrës was concluded with a joint exercise with the “ILIRIA” ship.
This was announced by Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi on social networks on Sunday and he shared photos from the joint naval military exercise.
“The exercise was conducted according to NATO’s standard manuals, improving our capacities and promoting cooperation between the forces. This exercise was an excellent opportunity to further the cooperation with friendly Turkey, as one of the most important supporters of the Armed Forces. Together, we are stronger!” said Peleshi.
Two warships of the Turkish Navy, “TCG Bayraktar” and “TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Pasa”, anchored in the Port of Durres three days ago.
The “TCG Bayraktar” ship is part of two of the Bayraktar-class amphibious landing ships of the Turkish Navy built in 2017 by the Anatolian shipyard to meet the operational requirements of the Turkish Naval Forces Command.
Bayraktar-class warships are primarily intended for amphibious missions and the transport of troops and equipment, while their secondary missions include humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and medical aid and transport. This ship is 139 meters long and 20 meters wide.
Meanwhile, “TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa” is one of the four Rhine-class ships: Elbe, Donau, Isar and Ruhr which were transferred to the Turkish Navy in the 1980s. “TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa” has a length of 98 meters and a width of about 12 meters.
“TCG Bayraktar” and “TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Pasa” visited Albania for a six-day stay in the framework of a joint exercise in the open sea as part of the training programs of the Turkish Naval Academy. /argumentum.al
