TIRANA, August 2 – The Deputy Ambassador and Economic Officer at the German Embassy, Thilo Schroeter, visited the company EMS Albanian Port Operator in the port of Durrës, according to an announcement made by the German Embassy on Wednesday.
The announcement said that the reason for Tuesday’s visit was to create an idea about the company’s situation.
“Fair and legal conditions for foreign investors are essential for Albania’s perspective as a country to do business and its future as part of the European internal market,” the embassy said.
The Constitutional Court did not review on Monday the complaint made by this company. EMS had a 35-year contract with the Durres Port Authority and it was expelled from the Port of Durrës a few days ago. So it demands compensation from the Albanian state.
During April of this year, EMS Shipping & Trading filed a lawsuit against the Albanian state at the ICSID Court of Arbitration in Washington. The accusation was registered on April 7 and the subject of the lawsuit is the dispute regarding the concession for the Port of Durrës. /argumentum.al
