TIRANA, August 25 – The Elbasan-Qafë Thane road project, part of Corridor VIII, for which active construction has started on the ground in two lots, has changed from the initial one.
The details were given by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku during a field inspection while accompanying the Prime Minister Edi Rama.
According to Balluku, the construction on the North Macedonian side of the road that is part of the corridor started a long time ago and Albania has adapted by finding a closer exit point from its territory.
But this solution seems to have added a new work which is a tunnel of 3 kilometers. According to Balluku, this solution was reached after negotiations between the road authorities of the two countries as well as the responsible Ministries of Infrastructure.
According to her, after an intensive conversation with the government of North Macedonia, it has been decided to change the exit point, since the construction of the VIII corridor has been started for a long time from the side of North Macedonia. “So working with both road authorities and with the ministries we have reached the result that it would be better to have a closer exit point in the Albanian territory which will be solved through a 3 kilometer tunnel,” Balluku explained. /argumentum.al
