The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen had a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama on Friday.
Von der Leyen considered Rama, as she wrote on Twitter, a ‘good friend’ stressing that the two issues she discussed with him were the best way to move forward with the enlargement process and the EU’s economic and investment plan for the Western Balkans.
However the EC President did not reveal if the question of the date of the first intergovernmental session between EU and Albania was discussed as there have been reports that there will be no such a meeting this year as it was expected during the EU Presidency of Germany.
Below is the full post of Von der Leyen:
“Constructive discussion as always with my good friend Prime Minister @ediramaal of Albania on how best to move ahead with the enlargement process & the rapid implementation of the EU Economic and Investment Plan for the Western Balkans.” /argumentum.al
