If the Namazgja mosque in Tirana, Albanian Capital, is not completed by the Turks until the summer when the contract expires, the Muslim Committee of Albania (KMSH) has the power to complete this cult object alone.
This was declared by the former head of the Muslim Committee of Albania, Skender Brucaj in an interview with the Voice of America on Friday.
There were reports that the mosque will be inaugurated in May this year and Turkish President Erdogan is rumored to attend the ceremony.
Bruçaj told VOA that the mosque should have be been completed within two years, adding that it is not done with Turkish government funds but with the help of Muslim brothers in Turkey.
“The beginning of the works was when I was the acting chairman of the KMSH. During a visit to Turkey, I told the former chairman of the Muslim Community of Turkey that you should start the works of the Namazgja mosque that I also contributed for myself,” he said.
According to him, the Namazgja mosque is being built not with the funds of the Turkish government, but with the help of the Turkish Muslim Brotherhood. Even the mosque had to be finished in two years. It has been going on for 7 years and it does not end.
“I believe that the contract ends this summer. If they do not end it, the KMSH has the potential to finish it. The mosque is a cult object, it can not become part of a political bargain, nor of a national strategy of a foreign state for it’s an object of God’s prayer and I’m sorry it has become part of these controversies,” Brucaj said. / Argumentum.al
