TIRANA, July 5 – “I have kindly asked the Prime Minister (Edi) Rama that if he comes and stays for 2 days and one night in Pristina, we will also hold the meeting of the two governments, which was unreasonably canceled.”
This statement was made on Wednesday by Prime Minister Albin Kurti a day before the scheduled visit of Rama to Pristina, the first leg of a tour of the latter to the Western Balkan countries, which aims at discussing the meeting of the Berlin Process participants that takes place in October in Tirana.
“The Kosovo-Albania relationship does not ail, but also democracy, peace and security in the Balkans why the Prime Ministers of Kosovo and Albania don’t meet,” said Prime Minister Albin Kurti, which has been seen as a refusal of him to meet Rama during his visit to Pristina on Thursday.
Kurti said that he is waiting for Rama and his government only to meet and sign the agreements that they had planned to conclude at the Gjakova meeting on June 14. As it seems, Kurti has not forgotten the cancellation of the June 14 meeting in Gjakova by Prime Minister Rama.
But Kurti’s statement seems not to affect the agenda of the head of the Albanian government, who announced that he will definitely be in Pristina on Thursday. “Regarding my visit to Pristina tomorrow and the whole tour, I will speak when it’s time to speak, and tomorrow I will be in Pristina,” said Rama.
Prime Minister Rama and his staff did not give details on what the agenda of the meetings in Pristina will be, if Kurti continues to refuse the meeting. /argumentum.al
