The US Ambassador, Yuri Kim has wished the Prime Minister, Edi Rama and the ruling Socialist Party (SP) on their electoral victory as well as Democratic Party (DP) Chairman Lulzim Basha for leading a strong campaign that gave voice to many and inspired hope.
Albania held parliamentary election on April 25 and the unofficial result gives SP a landslide victory with 74 seats in the new 140-member Parliament as the failure of opposition is harshly being denounced for theft of votes and irregularities by rising number of senior officials of DP who press for Basha’s resignation.

Most importantly, we congratulate the Albanian people, who spoke clearly. By recognizing the results of this election & cooperating with each other, leaders will be acting responsibly for the benefit of the Albanian people. We look forward to working with Albania to further strengthen cooperation on democracy, defense, and business.
We note @osce_odihr’s preliminary report & look forward to the final rpt, which should be used to further improve Albania’s elections. We reiterate that law enforcement & judiciary should prosecute any who violated law & obstructed citizens’ right to vote freely & in peace.” /argumentum.al
