The US Ambassador, Yuri Kim has turned back to the candidacy of former deputy Tom Doshi for the elections in the new Parliament on April 25 reminding the ruling of the State Department to ban him from entry into the US under the accusation of ‘significant corruption’.
In a tweet released on Tuesday after a visit to Shkodra, hometown and electoral bastion
of Doshi who heads the Social Democratic Party which he allegedly bought from Skender Gjinushi, who has been appointed head of the Academy of Sciences, drew the attention that DP and others ‘do not want in Albanian parliament someone designated by the US for ‘significant corruption’.
In the meantime, in a clear hint of PM Edi Rama the Ambassador puts some blunt questions asking of what he is afraid and why let people think they (Rama and Doshi)
are allies. “What are you afraid of? Is it ‘useful’ to stay silent? Why let people think you are ‘allies’? Is this what you think voters deserve?” were some of the questions.
Doshi has not made any comments but the CEC has registered him to run in the upcoming general poll in Albania.
The Ambassador noted that Albania deserves better.
Below are Kim’s note on Twitter and the retweet of what the State Department said on Tom Doshi:
“We note @pd shqiperi & others do not want in Albanian parliament someone designated by the US for significant corruption. To the others: What are you afraid of? Is it ‘useful’ to stay silent? Why let people think you are ‘allies’? Is this what you think voters deserve? Albania deserves better.”
In the meantime she Retweeted a tweet of the Department of State as following:
“The Department is publicly designating Albanian Member of Parliament Tom Doshi under Section 7031(c) of the FY 2017 Consolidated Appropriations Act, making him ineligible for entry into the United States due to his involvement in significant corruption.”
