The special prosecution (SPAK) will deliver more and more results that show no one is above the law in Albania.
This was the message given by the US Ambassador, Yuri Kim in a post on Twitter on Friday. She announced that she had a meeting with Altin Dumani, chief of SPAK’s Organized Crime Section, and the reason was to express her appreciation for numerous prosecutions that have resulted in imprisonment and asset confiscation.
Some properties of criminals linked with organized crime were confiscated being placed under government’s control over the last weeks.
But an action linked with US and echoed by Kim was the punishment of first post communist era president Sali Berisha by US State Secretary declaring him persona non- gtata.
Berisha, a former loyal collaborator of the US, has filed a. law suit with a French advocacy office.
Below is the full comment of Ambassador Yuri Kim:
“I met Altin Dumani, chief of SPAK’s Organized Crime Section, today to express appreciation for numerous prosecutions that have resulted in imprisonment & asset confiscation (https://t.co/2W3UcH5Fc5). SPAK will deliver more & more results that show no one is above the law.”
It’s to be applauded the high expectation of
the Ambassador who however has never said if there will be big fish in SPAK’s from the majority or opposition political class who are rumoured to have links with organized crime and are accused of serious corruption.
SPAK has not taken action regarding some corrptin cases which were presented to it, particularly by opposition. / www.argumentum.al
