TIRANA, April 24 – Ambassador Yuri Kim has said during her speech at the Assembly of the American Chamber of Commerce that relations between the US and Albania are at the highest level, but that the improvement of the investment climate must be continued.
Ambassador Kim said on Monday that the US is seeing increased investment, as well as growth of bilateral trade.
The US has strongly supported the justice reform, and it is giving results, she said, adding that if Albania asks for recommendations, it should listen to American companies, which have a role in providing alternatives. “We look forward to working with the American Chamber of Justice and expect results in improving the business climate,” said Kim.
In another event, the EU Ambassador to Tirana, Christiane Hohmann told the media on Monday that the European Union will support Albania but raised some problems that investors face today.
“There have been benefits brought by the digitalization of services. Investors clearly indicate some of the challenges that still remain such as how to deal with informality. The eradication of corruption, the promotion of fair competition as well as the promotion of transparent public procurement procedures, legal predictability, law enforcement are some problems and in addition they don’t want delays in the courts,” she said. According to her, there must not be unclear property documents.
The Ambassador added that the EU has approved very important investments for the country.
“We will invest heavily. The EU has approved very important investments in the amount of 5.7 billion euros, focusing on transport and energy structure. Since we are the number one donor in Albania, we also cover many areas, but we focus on encouraging business skills,” said the EU Ambassador, Hohmann. /Argumentum.al
