TIRANA, October 11 – “Albania must move forward, not backwards, not even stand still,” said US Ambassador to Albania Yuri Kim through a post on Twitter on Tuesday.
Kim encouraged judges and prosecutors to carry out their duties in accordance with the law, with integrity.
“We are aware of more efforts to entice or intimidate judges and prosecutors, to pervert justice, to insist on impunity for the powerful – in other words, to drag Albania back to the past,” said the Ambassador who pledged that the US will continue to strongly support the implementation of justice reform in this Balkan country.
Albania and US are strategic partners and Washington is keen on helping its ally to reform judiciary an effort which has met many obstacles and is taking long time to be carried out.

It’s time to break the old patterns of corruption and illegal influence in the judicial system. Albania must move forward, not backwards, not even stand still. The US is paying close attention to all developments and will continue to strongly support the implementation of justice reform. /Argumentum.al
