The US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Philip Reeker is on a visit to Tirana where he met with Prime Minister Edi Rama on Wednesday.
The meeting took place at the government headquarters and the focus of the talks was the US-Albania mutual relationship and further cooperation between the two countries. Rama and Reeker also talked about the joint Defender21 exercise which ended a few days ago.
After the meeting with Rama, Reeker went to the Democratic Party (DP) headquarters, accompanied by the American ambassador Yuri Kim, where he had a meeting with DP head Lulzim Basha.
Also present were the US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, and senior DP leaders Gazmend Bardhi and Jorida Tabaku.
Topics of discussion were related to the April 25 elections and relations between the two countries, local media close to DP said.
After Albania Reeker will travel to the neighboring country of North Macedonia where the 3rd anniversary of the Prespa Agreement will be marked on July 1.
Senior officials of Albania including PM Rama are reportedly expected to take part in the event in North Macedonia. / argumentum.al
