TIRANA, August 29 – The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said in an interview for the Greek newspaper “To Vima” that the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow the union with Albania.
Asked if he supported the union of Kosovo and Albania, Kurti said that “we are one nation, but two different states”. He added that most of the accusations regarding the union with Albania come from the Serbs as they want Republika Srpska to join Serbia.
“Albanians in Kosovo constitute 93% of the population. We are one nation but two states. I won power in February 2021 promising jobs and justice and these remain my priority. We have excellent relations with Albania. I think most of the accusations against me, regarding the unification, come from the Serbs, because they want Republika Srpska (Bosnia) to join Serbia. They have invented the so-called ‘Serbian World’ as a euphemism for Greater Serbia,” declared Kurti.
Kurti confirmed that there is an excellent relationship with Albania, but said that “although we are one nation, we are two different countries”.
“At the moment, the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow this (union) and we are focused on the protection of our country, its territorial integrity and sovereignty. But I repeat that we have excellent relations with Albania and, although we are one nation, we are two different states,” said PM Albin Kurti. /argumentum.al
