It will finally start the construction of the Tirana-Rinas-Durrës railway in Albania which is the only country in Europe with a debilitated and. almost non functional railways network in Europe and maybe across the world.
The news was broken by PM Edi Rama in a post on social networks on Monday morning as he is scheduled to visit Brussels for talks with the highest officials of the EU.
According to Rama, the start of the construction is made possible after the finalization of a work of several years with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Last January, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and the Italian company INC SPA signed the agreement on the construction of the railway connecting the capital Tirana with the main seaport of Surrey and Rinas airport, the only international one in this Balkan country.
The works will last 30 months, according to expectations the railway will be ready in 2023.Details reveal that the project will create.2,200 new jobs.
The investment will improve the movement between the two cities, making the distance between them only 22 minutes, while that between Tirana and Rinas will be 12 minutes.
The value of the investment for the construction of the railway mounts to 90.45 million euros.
Below follows full post of PM Edi Rama:
