A new publication by INSTAT provides the overview of the most important statisticalindicators for the period 2018-2019
The 2020 edition of the Regional Statistical Yearbook has just been published offering a summary of key social and economic data for the country’s prefectures. This publication is essential for improving regional and local development.
“This publication, presents in one book an overall summary of social and economic statistics for all prefectures of the country. The Regional Statistical Yearbook remains one of INSTAT’s most important publication, and this year we added more local indicators in Regional and Municipality level. Also, we plan to improve this yearbook in 2021, with new local indicators and user-friendly visualizations. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Swiss Embassy, for continues support to INSTAT in improving statistics for better decisions for users”, stated Elsa Dhuli, General Director of INSTAT.
A wide range of users will benefit from the information contained in the new publication: decisionmakers and government authorities at central and local level, businesses and investors, researchers and academia, civil society, media and others. A novelty for this edition is the inclusion of environment in a dedicated chapter and a complete new section on Albania in the Western Balkan region that allows comparisons between countries. It contains important data on main areas including health, education, social protection, agriculture, tourism, public finances, and population.
INSTAT experts have worked with a special focus on this publication with the support of the Swiss government project SALSTAT, ‘Strong Albanian Local Statistics’. This is the second yearbook prepared with support by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (FSO), aiming to improve its contents year by year.

Having accurate and diverse statistics and data is key to having a more effective local governancein Albania. To ensure that statistics serve regional development, SALSTAT assists in improving the quality and range of regional statistics, as well as strengthening capacities of INSTAT regional offices in data collection and analysis.
